St Patrick's Catholic Primary School is a Catholic, Voluntary Aided school for Catholic boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 11 years, although children of other denominations may be enrolled, on application to the Chair of Governors, if there are vacant places and under the conditions of the current Governors' Admissions Policy for the School.
At present there are 102 children on roll who are divided into 4 classes of mixed ages and abilities. The teaching staff establishment is 5, including the Headteacher, Miss Wood, plus 4 teaching assistants.
The School was opened in April 1996 following a relocation from the old building in Green Lane, West Vale. It is built on a level site with beautiful views over Halifax.
It consists of 4 classrooms built araound a central library. The Foundation Stage unit has recently been extended and now includes an extended teaching and learning area, a large outside adventure play area and an outside store room.
There is a resource room which is used for Music tuition and small group work. We have a fully fitted PE Hall that also serves as a dining area. Meals are cooked on the premises.
The school, both inside and outside, benefits from excellent resources. We have our own playing fields and landscaped grounds. This includes an Environmental Garden and also a Children's Garden.
We enjoy a good deal of parental support both fundraising and in classroom involvement and are a lively school with a wide variety of extra curricular activities.
