St Patrick's Garden Club

The Garden Club has started up again with a brand new format.  This year we are meeting on Wednesday lunchtimes.  We have fifteen members - apologies to all those who were unable to gain a place.  Your names have been added to a waiting list and you will be first in line next year!

We have planted lots of Spring flowering bulbs in the children's garden and in pots in the Foundation Stage play area.  These have provided lots of colour during the last few weeks.

A BIG "Thank You" to Newbank Nursery in Greetland for donating the majority of the bulbs.

STOP PRESS!!!

This year we are joining Overgate Hospice in their bid to win the Hospice in Bloom Competition.

The children in the garden club have planted seeds and 'plugs' which they will bring on to plant in 7 planters on the terrace at the Hospice.  Miss Wood has chosen a 'Rainbow' Theme.

Six members of the club visited the Hospice on Monday 21st April to see the planters they will be using.

We are all very excited about this joint project and would like to thank the Hospice for giving us this great opportunity.

Six of our club members visited Overgate Hospice.  This is one of the planters we will be using for our "Rainbow" display.

With some of the money raised

with the help of Elland Rotary Club, we have bought a greenhouse and hope to be able to use it later on in the year.

Last year we had lots of fun planting potatoes and watching them grow.

A big "Thank you" to Mr and Mrs Wood and to Mrs Newcombe who help us with all the hard work and teach us about plants and how to look after them.

Do you plant more seeds than you can use?

Do you have seeds, seedlings etc to donate to the school garden?  If you plant more seeds that you need (eg lettuces, tomatoes etc), don't throw away what you don't want, let the Garden Club make use of them!
